Solidarity grows in everyday acts: sharing a meal, offering a helping hand, learning about each other’s struggles and joys.
For the next two weeks, we are inviting our community to give a small amount each month to cultivate solidarity all year long.
Every day, we meet people who are seeking safety and exercising their right to seek asylum. They often arrive to empty apartments, navigate unfamiliar systems, and confront the uncertainty of rebuilding their lives.
All of us, newcomers and longtime Montrealers alike, can thrive when we cultivate a society which values care and solidarity.
“Because here, when you share your struggles, your words, they heal you.“

Your testimony is precious. By sharing your experience, you help us inspire others to offer a compassionate and human support ♡
From our beginnings as a grassroots community response to the significant increase of refugee claimants arriving in Montreal in the fall of 2017, Welcome Collective has grown into a thriving community organization providing essential material and psychosocial support to refugee claimants who arrive in Montreal seeking safety and security.
We collect furniture and household items from donors across Montreal and deliver apartment kits to the homes of newly arrived refugee claimant families. We provide follow-up psychosocial support and resource orientation, helping families to meet their basic needs so that they can focus on settling into their new country and building a positive future.
Welcome Collective’s work goes beyond immediate assistance to newcomers. Alongside our material and psychosocial support services, Welcome Collective uses its voice to advocate for a world of fair, inclusive and caring societies, where where people can live free from the legacies of colonialism, exploitation, and inequality in all forms.
